It is 2011 and still America is honored as the most free nation in the world. Inevitably, times are changing and Our Nation is beginning to see greater government control. Some of these new and established laws seem quite logical while others seem less reasonable. As a born and raised citizen of this great country, I feel it is important to raise the issues that have developed in modern day America.

The Videos Now Rule the World....Be Afraid!
Are any of you a bit scared in America? Seriously, your every move is being taped. Think about it....there are cameras in stores, parking lots, and stadiums. There are police cameras which will somehow give you a ticket from cybersapce, or the local telephone pole installation site. Do Gooder Parents are more than happy to send the Principal of a school, the results of a phone video in order to get someone in trouble. Cashiers unwillingly have to ask you for an ID, even though they understand that your wrinkles surely should allow you to buy the beer. Still, "Big Brother" is watching, and if they forget to ask....their jobs will be lost. Moreover, we can now be tracked by our debit cards, credit cards, or any other card we happen to sign up for! But, hold on.....this is America! Let me say it once more.....this is America! Our families came here for freedom! They left their homes and countries to rid themselves of tyrannical rule. Somehow...in an insidious way, this once amazing country has inched its way toward everything our ancestors left. And we, generations past, sit by silently in acceptance! Welcome to Soviet Amerika...the new American way?

A huge invasion of privacy happened with the Patriot Act that was quickly developed as an anti-terrorism legislation which received little congressional oversight and was signed into law by President Bush on Oct. 26, 2001.
ReplyDeleteThe bill gives almost unlimited search and surveillance to law enforcement and intelligence agencies and eliminates the checks and balances that were previously protected by the courts and gave them the opportunity to ensure that the powers were not abused by our government. The Patriot act has and still threatens the basic rights of millions of Americans such as the wire tapping of private phone calls.
First and foremost....Obama wants to reinstate most of the Patriot Act....which has nothing to do with my thoughts, written on my blog. I find it amazing, that no matter what I talk about...Bush is at fault. I don't think that any president has power over a parent who is willing to turn kids in due to a phone video. Nor do I believe that the Federal Government has a real voice in whether or not a cashier cards an older woman! The Patriot Act....and my viewpoints differ, entirely! None the less...and apparently, Bush made us put in cameras, turn one another in for trite misgivings, and demanded that City police place videos on telephone poles for speeding! No doubt....as we make choices in our own lives, as to whether or not to take the video, or show the video....inevitably...no matter what...Bush will be the sinner.
