While Obama lives like a King...he asks the American people to scale down, during this difficult economy!

Since President Obama was inaugurated, he has maintained one very clear message to the American people.  He pointedly tells us that we have to sacrifice, pull up our boot straps, and learn to tightly budget our households during this difficult economy.  Somehow, Obama's dictates do not apply to his life style.  Granted, he is the president, and is permited to enjoy the added extras, just as the men who went before him.  However, he has been a very busy man, who shows, we the taxpayers, little regard for his own, repeated suggestions.  Since August, 2010, Obama has given 66 television interviews, and 36 newspaper/magazine interviews.  Question...whether by car or plane, how much fuel is used to get our president to all of these places?  Does appearing on Oprah and David Letterman really help the American people and the economy?  While President Obama urges us to spend less, he used $240,000 of our money to take the first lady to a play in New York.  Michelle Obama thought nothing of taking her closest 40 friends to Spain for a week.  She booked 60 rooms, at the mere cost of $2500 per night, per room.  The Obamas have hosted over 481 visitors, including Bill Gates, Bank CEO's, scores of Hollywood celebrities and famous musicians.  Question....how much does it cost everytime the Obama's entertain their guests?  Is it utterly necessary to spend an evening with Sheryl Crow and the Foo Fighters, while the rest of America is asked to scale down their lifestyles?  If Obama is going to "talk the talk," he might want to "walk the walk."  Even just a little!

  1. Pam,
The president of the United States spends and lot of money on everything he does because of all the security and people needed for protection. I would have thought a better position would have been not the cost but the lack of work from this president. He golfs all the time, at least every weekend, he takes more vacation time than Reagan, and the quality of his work is putrid. So maybe it’s a good thing he treats the office of the President as if he were still a community organizer. Ron baby Reagan took a lot of time off but got this country to believe in itself and its unique position in the world. It is sad that once again a lot of people, including our current President, do not think we are special, do not believe in the American spirit and do not recognize that we have a highly flawed but still the best government system ever created. The people not he politicians will get this country moving again. Thomas Jefferson had complete confidence in the common person to influence and direct the elite politicians. I believe as he did. Your blogs and everyone who posts their thoughts will be the engine that moves the politicians to make the hard but needed choices to improve our country. Let’s not go back but move forward, let’s remove laws that our not consistent with our values as a country and enforce current laws without making new ones. Keep up the good work and stay the “right” course. This country will improve will get better and you and other blogs will help make it so.
