It is 2011 and still America is honored as the most free nation in the world. Inevitably, times are changing and Our Nation is beginning to see greater government control. Some of these new and established laws seem quite logical while others seem less reasonable. As a born and raised citizen of this great country, I feel it is important to raise the issues that have developed in modern day America.

What will be said about Herman Cain, and African American Republican hopeful, exploring the candidacy of President 2012?
Herman Cain, the former chairman and CEO of Godfathers Pizza is exploring the idea of running for the presidency in 2012. Mr. Cain has a long list of credentials in business, including chairmanship of the Federal Reserve Bank. Mr Cain is a self made man, whose desire is to maintain the freedom of America which are founding fathers worked tirelessly for. Mr. Cain is African American and Republican. No doubt, like the great African American Republicans who have gone before him, he will be duly over criticized and torn apart by the media and the Democrat party. I will remind you, that the Democrats purport to be open minded and diverse. Think back for a moment...Colin Powell, the first African American man to become Secretary of State, under George H. Bush, a four star general in the United States Military, along with a long list of credentials, was never given accolades by the media or the Democrat party until he endorsed President Obama. Condoleeza Rice, the first African American female to be honored with the office of Secretary of State, under George W. Bush received little recognition for her acheivements either. Justice Clarence Thomas had to fight his was to the Supreme Court after accusations of sexual harrassment. The media dug deep, and the Democrats were right behind them, willing to tear this good man to shreds. Somehow, President Obama, African American, did not have to endure any criticism. Of course, any party will go after the candidate of the opposing party. But, I find it interesting that the Democrats claim that they are the largest team of proponents for minorities, and yet will glady take to task, any individual with minority status who does not adhere to their agenda. When legimate questions were raised about candidate Obama, the media and the Democrats alike, screamed....."racism." I wonder what will be said when Herman Cain is attacked? As history will prove with previous African American Republicans, he will be thrown to the wolves.

No matter how far we come along as a society, the race card will always be played. It isn't a question that this card is played as a defense mechanism in order to take away from the actual situation. But racism is real and always have been. We must be able to differentiate racism from disagreements if we ever want to get anywhere. In this case I would agree that the democratic party seems a bit hypocritical but then again it could be that same defense mechanism.
ReplyDeleteThe race card will get played today, not just because of a defense mechanism, but also as a tool. Historically, it can be understood that African Americans needed affirmative action in order to gain employment, and acceptance to college, just to name a few. At that time in our past, it was sadly necessary. However, our society has evolved. President Obama was elected afterall. And yes, there will always be racism. Each one of us, has an issue about some culture, religion, or group. But, America has tried to make sound strides. I believe that we have! Still, the race card does get played today, not out of defense, but for advantage. People with minority status, including women, can easily tag an individual as a racist, in a situation where that such term does not belong. Obama can easily ride the wave, and say what he wants, all the while knowing that he is protected by race. He understands that the media must walk intrepidly on issues. The problem is this...there are those in the minority class who are given the freedom to use it. While there are those in the minority class, such as Republicans who can not. The simple fact is that it has become a tool, used in a game. Thanks for your meaningful reply.
ReplyDeleteI'd be curious to see you produce a single instance when Obama has played the race card.
ReplyDeleteare you kidding me with this crap...Obama has been criticized by Republicans since day one; he's been attacked for citizenship, race, experience, etc...Now the Republicans are attacking each other (with just cause) making fools of each other; greedy, ignorant men. You watch way too much Fox News!!
ReplyDeleteYes, Pam, you are truly brainwashed. I guarantee that fox news, the RNC, and all the superpacs have dug deep to find dirt on the President and have come up empty handed. Live with it.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to watching Newt, Mit, or whomever get their hat handed to them next election. Thanks for four years of obstructionism. It's gonna work out great for the rest of us.
